Detergents are essential in immunohistochemistry (IHC) protocols, as they significantly enhance sample preparation and improve staining accuracy and quality. By facilitating sample permeabilization, detergents allow antibodies to penetrate cell membranes and access intracellular proteins, which is crucial for accurate detection and visualization of target molecules within cells. Additionally, detergents are incorporated into blocking solutions, antibody dilution buffers, and wash buffers. Here, they play a critical role in reducing non-specific binding by blocking unwanted interactions, which leads to reduced background noise in stained samples. This results in higher signal-to-noise ratios and provides researchers with clearer, more precise images, ultimately improving the reliability and interpretability of IHC results.
Our detergents consist of Brij 35, Triton X100, NP-40 and Tween 20.
