Immunoprecipitation (IP) is a commonly employed biochemical technique for isolating and analyzing specific proteins in a mixture. It utilizes the precise interaction between an antibody and its target antigen (protein) by using an antibody that specifically binds to the protein of interest. With the addition of antibody binding beads such as Protein A or G beads to the mixture, the antibody-antigen binding creates an insoluble complex that precipitates and can be extracted from the solution via centrifugation. This allows researchers to isolate and study the protein of interest by separating it from the rest of the components in the solution.
Our PrecipHen® is made from goat anti-chicken IgY antibodies covalently attached to agarose beads. It is designed for use with chicken antibodies in immunoprecipitation (IP), chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP), and protein purification applications.
