Scientific Background

Human neutral endopeptidase (Neprilysin) is a single pass type II integral membrane endopeptidase. Part of the peptidase M13 family. Acts on polypeptides of less than 30 amino acids with Thermolysin-like specificity. Preferentially cleaves between hydrophobic residues particularly with Phe or Tyr at position 1. Important in degradation of opioid peptides such as Met- and Leu-enkephalins.

Validated for use in IHC and WB for detection of Neprilysin (Neutral Endopeptidase). A previous lot was used on Western Blotting and Immunohistochemistry. Detects a band at ~86 kDa on Western blots of rat kidney extracts. Control tissue: kidney. Optimal working dilutions must be determined by the end user.
