Our Anti-Kv2.1 K+ channel (external) mouse monoclonal primary antibody from NeuroMab is produced in-house from hybridoma clone K39/25. It detects human, mouse, and rat Kv2.1 K+ channel (external), and is purified by Protein A chromatography. It is great for use in IHC, ICC, WB.
Surface immunofluorescence (no detergent permeabilization) of cultured rat hippocampal neuron transfected with HA-tagged Kv2.1 plasmid. Red = K39/25. Scale bar = 20 m. Reproduced from 2000 Lim et al Neuron (PMID 10719893).
Potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily B member 1 is encoded by the gene KCNB1. KCNB1 is a member of the potassium channel family, B (Shab) (TC 1.A.1.2) subfamily, Kv2.1/KCNB1 sub-subfamily. KCNB1 is a delayed rectifier potassium channel that mediates transmembrane potassium transport. KCNB1 contributes to the regulation of action potential (AP) repolarization, duration and frequency of repetitive AP firing in neurons, muscle cells, and endocrine cells, and plays a role in homeostatic attenuation of electrical excitability throughout the brain. KCNB1 is expressed in the brain, heart, lung, liver, colon, kidney, and adrenal gland. Diseases associated with KCNB1 include early infantile epileptic encephalopathy 26, undetermined early-onset epileptic encephalopathy, visual epilepsy, and alacrima, achalasia, and mental retardation syndrome.
