IHC Reagents Coming Soon!

ImmunoChemistry Technologies is excited to announce we will soon be offering Immunohistochemistry (IHC) reagents!

IHC is the method for localizing specific antigens in tissue or cells using antibodies, enzyme conjugates and substrate-chromogens. The antigen-antibody reaction can be evidenced with an optical microscope. The antibodies can be polyclonal or monoclonal in origin. These non-infectious biological reagents are used by research and clinical laboratories to detect the presence of infectious agents, cancer and other proteins of interest.

We will offer a wide range of IHC products, including Mounting Media, Antigen Retrieval, IHC Blocking Reagents, Counter Stains, and Chromogens.

Mounting Media
:
After immunochemical staining, mounting media are used to adhere a coverslip to a tissue section or cell smear. Mounting media are important to protect the specimen and staining from physical damage. Mounting media also play an important role in improving the clarity and contrast of an image during microscopy.

Our mounting media products will include:

  • Fluoroshield - An aqueous medium for preserving fluorescence of tissue and cell smears.
  • ImmunoHistoMount - A permanent aqueous mounting medium.
  • Organo (Limonene) Mount - Perfect for preserving tissues and cell smears that can be dehydrated with organic solvents in Immunohistochemistry. This product is made with natural product from Orange Peels.

Antigen Retrievers and Buffers:

The process of sample fixation can lead to protein cross linking, which masks antigens and can restrict antigen-antibody binding. Antigen retrieval enables an antibody to access the target protein within the tissue.

Our antigen retrievers and buffer products will include:

IHC Blocking Reagents:

Blocking reagents are used in the field of immunohistochemistry to keep endogenous biotin, enzymes, and other molecules from interfering with the primary antibody binding to the target antigen. IHC blocking reagents can come in the form of sera, proteins, or synthetic agents. The selection of the appropriate blocking reagent depends on the type of tissue being studied, endogenous enzymes, and the species of the primary and secondary antibody being used.

Our IHC Blocking Reagents will include serums from the following:

  • Bovine
  • Chicken
  • Donkey
  • Goat
  • Horse
  • Rabbit

Chromogens:

Chromogens are colored molecules that and help provide a visual representation of the presence and distribution of the targeted protein in the tissue. The most common chromogens react with the enzymes horseradish peroxidase (HRP) or alkaline phosphatase (AP), which can be conjugated to primary or secondary antibodies. These enzymes are often also present in endogenous tissue, so colorimetric substrates such as DAB and BCIP/NBT are often used to detect their presence. Water soluble substrates such as TMB and AEC can also be used in photometric assays such as ELISA.

Our IHC Chromogen products will include:

  • HRP:
    • DAB (Brown)
    • AEC (Red)
    • TMB (Blue)
    • TMB for Membranes (Blue)
    • TMB-IHC (Blue)
  • AP
    • BCIP/NBT (Blue/Black)
    • Fast Red Super (Red)

Counter Stains:

After IHC staining of the target antigen, a second chemical stain is often applied to provide contrast that helps the primary staining product stand out. Many of these chemical counterstains show specificity for discrete cellular compartments or antigens, while others will stain the whole cell.

Our Counter Staining products will include:
