Anti-CALB1/calbindin (L109/57) Recombinant Chicken Chimeric mAb (L109/57)
Our chicken Anti-CALB1/calbindin recombinant monoclonal antibody is a chimeric antibody derived from NeuroMab clone L109/57. It detects human, mouse, and rat CALB1/calbindin, and is purified by affinity chromatography. It is great for use in AT, ICC, IHC, WB.

Representative section of formalin fixed, paraffin-embedded rat brain cerebellum region showing staining of Purkinje cells by Aves Labs anti-CALB1 recombinant chicken monoclonal antibody (visualized in green, Cat No. 78-448) at 1:100 dilution. The stained sections were mounted with Antibodies Incorporated FluoroshieldTM with DAPI and DABCO mounting medium (Cat No AR-6505). DAPI nuclear stain (blue) shows cell nuclei. Anti-CALB1 specifically stains the Purkinje cells in the cerebellum. Magnification 400X.

Product Details
CALB1/calbindin
Calbindin (aka. calbindin D28k) is a member of the calcium-binding protein superfamily that includes calmodulin and troponin C. It is predominantly expressed in certain types of neurons, particularly in dendrites and perikarya of the cerebellum and is thought to buffer entry of calcium upon stimulation of glutamate receptors (Andressen et al., 1993). Calbindin has recently been shown to play a critical role in mitochondrial dysfunction and loss of synaptic proteins in vivo in an Alzheimer’s disease mouse model (Kook et al., 2014).

This recombinant antibody is a chimeric antibody created by replacing the mouse heavy and light constant regions of our NeuroMab clone L109/57 with chicken IgY heavy and light constant regions. As such this antibody retains the same binding performance as the original clone L109/57 but can be detected using standard anti-chicken secondary antibodies allowing flexibility for multiplexing applications. This antibody is expressed recombinantly in mammalian cells and then affinity purified from the cell culture media.
1X PBS, 0.05% Sodium Azide pH 7.4
